A recognizable Roblox game icon checklist
Players should be able to identify your icon before they can read the title. The strongest icons use a bold silhouette, a simple background, and one visual cue that belongs to the game.
Choose a single focal subject
Use a character face, a distinctive tool, a creature, or a logo mark. If you need three characters to explain the game, move that story into the 16:9 thumbnail instead.
Build contrast into the square
Separate the subject from the background with value, color, or a clean outline. Avoid a subject and background with the same brightness; they will merge when the icon is reduced.
Preview at small size
Look at the icon in a small browser tab or a scaled-down mockup. Details that look polished on a large artboard may be invisible in the actual game list.
Game icon FAQ
What should a Roblox game icon show?
Show the most recognizable subject or symbol from your experience, with a clean composition and enough contrast to read when small.
Can I use the same image for the icon and thumbnail?
You can share the same visual system, but a square icon and wide thumbnail need different compositions to avoid awkward cropping.
